TRADITIONAL KAFENEIO

Usually translated by "coffee shop", this traditional shop used to be of vital importance to the community since it was the center of all communication. Placed in the center of the community, around the town square, a village will always have at least one kafeneio.
It is where men go to socialize, gossip and find out about various important happenings in agriculture or politics. There they meet to play cards or tavli (backgammon), drink coffee, ouzo or raki but also play some music.

The kafeneio of Makis Loudaro in Arkesini is still surviving. At the entrance of the village, it is a very nice spot to stop for a coffee,
